Watch the Auberge Shalom Speak Up to Speak Out video series 

For over 30 years, Auberge Shalom, a Federation CJA grantee organization, has provided safety and support to more than 8,000 women and children impacted by intimate partner abuse. For the 12 Days of Action to end violence against women (November 25th - December 6th), which ends with National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on December 6th, the 32nd anniversary of the École Polytechnique massacre, Auberge Shalom is releasing one video a day responding to questions from the community. On day five, Joanna Kolb, ASPF's Director of Development, provided a virtual tour of our shelter. CEO of Jewish Federations of North America, Eric Fingerhut, calls for greater Holocaust education

"The fact that this comparison is being used more and more in public and not being refuted is a growing sign that we have a real problem with Holocaust education," Federations CEO Eric Fingerhut said on CNN, regarding Fox News host Lara Logan's repeated comparisons of Dr. Anthony Fauci and Nazi war criminal Josef Mengele. Fiction on Soviet Jewish life and Canada during the Holocaust win 2021 Quebec Writers' Federation Literary Awards

Two books of fiction with strong Jewish themes won 2021 Quebec Writers' Federation (QWF) Literary Awards, which recognize the best recent works in English by authors in the province. Love Like Water, Love Like Fire by Mikhail Iossel received the Paragraphe Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction and Room For One More by Monique Polak took the Janet Savage Blachford Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature.

The late 1960s and early '70s were an exciting time for Sidney Margles, Peter Sherman and Rick Leckner, three reporters at Montreal's iconic CJAD 800 radio station. The three eventually named themselves the Jewish Mobile Squad, reflecting their teamwork and shared heritage. With special menorah, United States VP Harris and Doug Emhoff honour 'mensch' who kept paying employees after massive factory fire

Aaron Feurstein continued to pay his workers after the textile factory he owned burned to the ground. "The vice president was looking for a unique menorah to light this Hanukkah," said Marika Feuerstein, Aaron Feuerstein's granddaughter, who hand-painted it. Learning of the textile magnate's legacy, the White House official got in touch with Feuerstein's family, which was happy to loan the menorah to the second family.
