TOV - #100Days100Deeds

This year,  Federation CJA turns 100, and we’re celebrating a century of impact in the Montreal Jewish community! Join Federation CJA’s Tikun Olam Volunteers (TOV) as we mark the occasion by performing 100 good deeds; we’ll be helping those in need in both the Jewish and the broader Montreal community.

Our goal is to line up 100 hands-on volunteer opportunities during the Centennial year. Join us and share your volunteerism using the hashtag #100Days100Deeds on social media!

#100Days100Deeds Co-Chairs Celia Cohen, Naomi Mechaly, and Jodi Tessler. #100Days100Deeds Co-Chairs: Celia Cohen,  Jodi Tessler and Naomi Mechaly

Celia Cohen
I decided to chair #100Days100Deeds because I want to give my children examples of the importance of completing a mitzvah. Every day at bedtime we try to talk about any mitzvot they accomplished during the day and possible missed mitzvah opportunities. At home, I concentrate on mitzvot that involve other people, like donating food, clothes and toys to the less fortunate, giving tzedakah, or helping sick people. As my children are growing up, it is important for me to pass on the incredible gift of the joy of giving back.

Naomi Mechaly
I don’t think of doing something nice as doing a good deed: I think that helping others should just be a part of your everyday life. If it takes one extra smile to a stranger, or one extra second to help someone on the street, then so be it. My goal in life is to help in any way I can.

Jodi Tessler
I am very excited to be part of the effort to commemorate the past 100 years and to lay the foundation for the next 100 years of community giving. We are reminded of Federation CJA's sustained commitment to Tikun Olam through this initiative.
