In the wake of the October 7 terror attacks and the war in Israel, antisemitism — already on the rise in Canada — has been fully unleashed on campus, on the streets, and online.

AND WE’RE TAKING ACTION.

THE FACTS

Antisemitic incidents have INCREASED +109.1% in the past year.

Last year, Jews were targeted in 70% of RELIGIOUS HATE CRIMES in Canada.

In 2023, almost 16 ANTISEMITIC INCIDENTS occurred every day.

OUR ACTIONS SINCE OCTOBER 7

SECURITY

During this period of intense campus unrest, our Community Security Network (CSN) has been proactively working to ensure community safety. We've secured court-ordered injunctions protecting over 30 community buildings and are fighting for Jewish professionals, teachers, and students to preserve their rights as everyday citizens, both at schools and in the workplace.

ON CAMPUS

With anti-Israel protests unleashed on campuses, we’ve been intently focused on the needs of Jewish students. We’ve significantly supplemented funding to 10 Hillels (university and CEGEP) to fight back against abuse of podium, intimidation and hate from masked protestors, increase campus organizers, and provide Israel advocacy training.

EDUCATION

We are taking the lead in combating antisemitism in Montreal by investing in educational programs. In partnership with BJEC, we've developed materials on Israel, the Holocaust, and antisemitism, now implemented into curricula for public schools. These programs aim to fight misinformation and Jewish hate through outreach and education.

ADVOCACY

We’re keeping in constant touch with the mayor’s and prime minister’s offices, urging them to keep the fight against antisemitism among their very top priorities. Along with CIJA, we're actively advocating for public policies and working to ensure that government leaders at the local, provincial and federal levels consider Jewish issues in Canada’s public policy discussion.

THINK YOU’VE BEEN A VICTIM OF ANTISEMITISM?

In emergencies, always call the Police (9-1-1) and then report your interaction to the Community Security Network.

ADVOCACY & BUILDING BRIDGES

We’re strengthening community relations efforts, including building strategic partnerships and coalitions with non-Jewish groups, many of whom are also facing hatred.

THE RULE OF LAW

As aggressive protesters target our synagogues, schools, and community centers, we've secured court-ordered injunctions to protect over 30 community buildings and are assisting Jewish professionals, teachers, and students in preserving their rights as citizens.

RESILIENCE

Together, we've built a community that stands tall, embraces its heritage, and faces challenges with strength. Through holiday celebrations, engaging events, Israel trips, and advocacy training, we're empowering our community to embrace and celebrate their Jewish identity.
