Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist coordinates all Human Resources activities as they relate to the agency. More specifically, the incumbent provides guidance and resources to managers with respect to recruitment, onboarding and orientation, performance management, professional development, and compensation processes. The Generalist also liaises closely with the HR services of Federation CJA with respect to employee relations, HRIS, payroll and benefits administration.

Duties

• Coordinate and implement various human resource plans and procedures, including the development and implementation of policies and employee handbook.
• Guide, coach and advise/mentor managers in the interpretation and application of human resources policies and procedures.
• Acts as a point person and manages all activities related to the recruitment process, including preparation of job postings, interview process, employment letters and grant requests for summer internship programs.
• Coordinate and facilitate orientation sessions for all new employees. Provides support to managers with regards to the on-boarding period
• Manage files related to work accidents (CNESST), administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises, as necessary.
• Responsible to complete all legal requirements related to the declaration of training activities (1%) and pay equity maintenance as well as compliance to employee files.
• Participate actively in the elaboration and implantation of special human resources project, in collaboration with Senior Management.
• Participate in or chair various HR related committees, as needed.
• Liaise with affiliated agencies for additional HR partnerships.
• Develop and maintain agency organization charts and the employee directory.
• Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
• Maintains compliance with federal and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
• Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
• Liaise with and communicate regularly with HR services of Federation CJA for additional HR support as it relates to cases of employee relations, HRIS, payroll and benefits administration.

Education, Knowledge and Skills

• University diploma in human resources management, or other relevant fields.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a generalist position
• Knowledge of Quebec labour laws
• Knowledge and working experience with HR information systems.
• Be a member in good standing of a professional HR association, an asset.
• Computer knowledge: advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• A sensitization or a working knowledge around the topic of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity and the ability to implement best practices for the Centre.
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills, in both English and French.
• Excellent leadership skills and an ability to influence and manage complex situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with other management staff and employees.
• Strong work ethic, including developed skills for organization, strategic thinking, and ability to work and react effectively in a multitasking and fast-paced environment.
• High degree of initiative and creativity with a strong attention to quality and detail.
• Exceptional degree of discretion and confidentiality
• Knowledge and understanding of Non-profit sector an asset.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Jewish Community an asset.
