Job Summary The Cummings Centre is looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our IT team. This person will be working closely with DevOps and a lead Developer on the development, implementation, deployment and support of a database driven, mission-critical application, serving various stakeholders within the Cummings Centre.
Duties • Participating in all stages of the development life-cycle including, but not limited to, requirements gathering and development, system functional specifications and design, implementation, testing and post-implementation support; • Developing new applications, including backend, front end layers and database; • Maintaining the full stack of existing legacy applications; • Creating and maintaining database objects such as tables, indexes, views, queries, triggers, stored procedures and the functions; • Deploying applications to staging and production environments; • Providing support to end users for applications from the database, to backend and frontend operations; • Creating and maintaining process, application and database documentation; • Coordinating with IT team for database provisioning, migration, data synchronization and performance related issues; • Monitoring and optimizing system performance, fine-tuning queries and query optimization; • May be other duties outside the scope of this job posting.
Education, Knowledge and Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other equavallent experience; • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role; • Experience in Web MVC development; • Experience with SQL Server and SSRS; • Experience in Java, Node.JS, T-SQL, PHP, (Laravel Nova an asset); MVC, AJAX, JSON, IIS or REST API; • Experience in JavaScript, CSS/HTMLs, Bootstrap; • Experience with triggers, stored procedures and script performance tuning of complex SQL systems; • Knowledge of big data concepts is considered an asset; • Knowledge of multiple thread programming; • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills; • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and changing priorities; • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies; • Ability to proactively carry out tasks independently; • Ability to maintain focus while working under pressure, multi-tasking and meeting deadlines. • Possess strong problem solving and decision-making skills while using sound judgment; • Work well in a team environment and be agile; • Employ Best Practices at all times.
