Our community’s security is a top priority at Federation CJA and our Department of Community Security regularly works in close collaboration with all levels of law enforcement. This is an update on some recent activity:

  • In the wake of the tragic Pittsburgh attack, our Community Security Department was immediately mobilized and coordinated with the SPVM to increase vigilance and patrols around our synagogues and institutions. This presence was further increased during last weekend’s #SolidarityShabbat which took place without incident at synagogues across the island. Additionally, police commanders with Federation CJA security leadership conducted spot checks at various synagogues during services.
  • On Monday, a special security briefing session was organized by the Community Security Department for leadership of our day schools and synagogues in order to optimize organizational security and/or protocols. This was very well attended and provided an opportunity for the institutions to liaise directly with their local law enforcement.
  • We have been assured by the SPVM that increased patrols are ongoing and will be continued until otherwise notified. We remain in close contact with our local law enforcement on all matters regarding the safety of our community, and encourage, as always, our community members to be attentive: If you see something suspicious, say something.
