NEW FUNDS ALLOCATED: $ 600,000

$ 127,000 to purchase tablets for students and families for residents who have been relocated due to missiles, and whose children have been forced to attend school remotely.

$ 120,500 via Ben Gurion University for a new initiative on enhancing coexistence through simulation-based learning. This new project will pioneer an approach to addressing the challenges faced by rising tensions between Israelis and Arabs in hospitals and schools by leveraging a state-of-the-art simulation center at Ben Gurion University and the experience gathered by BGU School of Public Health. This project aims to facilitate constructive dialogue, promote learning, and contribute to academic research.

$ 150,000 to SHEKEL, Israel’s leading organization for individuals living with disabilities. Funds will allow for additional staff in order to urgently provide ongoing therapies and home activities for residents living with disabilities near Gaza who have been evacuated, as many of the caregiving staff have been drafted to serve in the army.

$ 100,000 to Migdal Ohr, an organization devoted to the welfare and education of 12,000 Israeli orphaned and underprivileged children at risk. The support will be for emergency relief efforts that will assist individuals from various Kibbutzim, including Bnei Netzarim, Neve Ashkelon, Ofakim, and Sderot. Funds for Migdal Ohr will sustain shelter for displaced individuals at hotels, extend support to 120 families with children living with disabilities, distribute essential supplies to evacuees, and financial aid to families.

$ 51,000 to support Gumat Chen Boarding School for Girls in Kibbutz Sa’ad, as emergency support to students and families who have been relocated to another city and integrated into another school. Daily school activities at the temporary boarding school will comprise of distance learning, group therapy sessions, and experiential enrichment activities. 

$ 50,000 to a new initiative at SEC Shamoon College of Engineering with the Visual Communication Department for residents of southern Israel who are currently in temporary residence in hotels due to the war. The initiative will include a 12-day long program at the archeological site Ein Yael, where participants will take part in therapy sessions and workshops to help them cope with the recent war events and receive much needed respite.

 

TOTAL FUNDS ALLOCATED TO DATE: 11.4 million

Federation CJA is employing funding strategies that focus on the following areas:

  • Lifeline Services – providing affected Israelis with critical resources and support.
  • Mental Health and Trauma Relief - ensuring access to mental health services and trauma relief, in both the short and long-term.
  • Community Recovery & Rescue - supporting interventions to bolster community recovery.
  • Community Resilience & Rebuilding - long-term scope.

 

LIFELINE SERVICES

Providing affected Israelis with critical resources and support.

$ 3.5 million to support individuals and vulnerable families affected by the terror attacks and experiencing trauma. Funding for victims of terror will contribute to supporting a total of 4,000 families.

$ 326,000 for 10 mobile bomb shelters for residents under fire throughout Israel’s southern region.

$ 250,000 for equipment aiding victims' recovery, identification, and burial. Providing protective gear, body bags, and rescue and recovery equipment for the process of ensuring those murdered in terror attacks can receive a proper burial.

MENTAL HEALTH AND TRAUMA RELIEF

Ensuring access to mental health services and trauma relief, in both the short and long-term​.

$ 2 million for trauma and emotional first aid to provide emergency support to devastated residents, support youth at risk in this time of need, offer trauma and psychological training, respite for frontline workers, and provide free psychiatric services to more than 3,000 people.

COMMUNITY RECOVERY & RESCUE

Supporting interventions to bolster community recovery.

$ 420,500 at Ben Gurion University for new innovative projects to be applied across Israel. This includes AI software for the coordination of health care services for all those affected by the war, with a focus on achieving a care continuum most effectively.

$ 270,000 funded to building community resilience in Be’er Sheva by providing workshops, dialogue groups, psycho-social support, and support for youth movement counselors who have played a vital role in assisting evacuated children, training, and deploying volunteers who provide essential resources to communities such as bringing medicine to an older population, delivering meals to frontline workers, and running activities for children who cannot attend school.
