Wednesdays, (4 Sessions) February 2 - 23|12:30 - 13:30 Members $20.00 Guests $32.00 Award-winning singer-songwriter Rob Lutes will recount some fascinating stories behind well-known songs from the past and will lead a selective chronological tour through some of the major movements in Western popular music. He will cover the period from the early iterations in America in the 18th and 19th centuries, through the birth of new genres like ragtime and blues, and the flowering of Tin Pan Alley. Rob will perform the songs on guitar and banjo. This four-part program, offered jointly by the Cummings Centre and AJA 50+, include, Early American Songs and Spirituals, Minstrel Songs and 19th Century Themes, The End of the Century, the Birth of Ragtime and The Blues.
