Are You Jewish? You Count. The 2021 Census is now arriving in the mail. Be Counted!
Your invitation to participate in the online #2021Census will arrive in the mail on May 3rd. So that the perspectives of Jewish Canadians are reflected in public policy, and to ensure we receive our share of programs and services, it is important for Jewish Canadians to be recognized by the Government of Canada as a thriving, growing, and engaged community. If it is important to you to be counted as Jewish, then write "Jewish" in responding to Question 23 (ethnicity), Question 30 (religion), or both!

Elie Wiesel to be first modern Jew honoured with bust in US National Cathedral
Elie Wiesel's widow, Marion Wiesel, said the bust is a means of advancing Wiesel's teachings. "Not only does his presence in the National Cathedral memorialize his life and honor his commitment to human rights; it also ensures that new generations will learn from his teachings and carry the lessons of his life forward into the future," she said in the cathedral's release.

In the aftermath of an unfathomable decision made by France's Court of Cassation to let the brutal and antisemitic murder of Sarah Halimi go unpunished, this past Tuesday, April 27, CIJA, the CSUQ, and Federation CJA held a Virtual Solidarity Rally (following COVID-19 protocol) in support of Justice for the Halimi family.
Speaking in one unified voice, over 600 people from our community, along with Federation CJA's President Gail Adelson-Marcovitz, former MP and President of the CSUQ the Hon. Jacques Saada, Chief Rabbi of France Rabbi Haïm Korsia, and official elected representative of the Assembly of French Citizens Abroad Aurelia LeTareau, showed the French government and like-minded nations around the world that antisemitism will never be tolerated.
