Montreal – May 3, 2022 – Federation CJA commended the City of Montreal for declaring the month of May as Jewish Heritage Month.

"We are very pleased that the City of Montreal has officially recognized the contributions of the Montreal Jewish Community through its long and rich history," said Joel Segal, President of Federation CJA. "The Montreal Jewish Community has been an active constituency of our city for more than 250 years, building, contributing to and shaping our society throughout."

"We salute the leadership and initiative of Sonny Moroz, City Councillor for the Snowdon district and the friendship and support of Alan DeSousa, Mayor of the Borough of Saint-Laurent, Stéphanie Valenzuela, City Councillor for the Darlington district and Vana Nazarian, City Councillor for the Côte-de-Liesse district, movers and seconders of the motion unanimously adopted by Council on April 25, 2022," said Yair Szlak, CEO of Federation CJA. "Indeed, we thank Mayor Valerie Plante and the entire City Council for this meaningful step in marking the history and contribution of the Jewish community to the vibrancy of the City of Montreal."
