Montreal – April 10, 2023 – Along with Israel and the Jewish World, Federation CJA is marking the days, from remembrance to celebration, with Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, and Yom Ha'atzmaut in the coming weeks. These landmark days serve as a time for reflection, commemoration, and celebration of the Jewish People's resilience and strength.

On Yom HaShoah, “We will commemorate the Holocaust and remember the Six million innocent souls that perished at the hands of the Nazis and their supporters, in one of the darkest periods in human history,” says Federation CJA President and CEO Yair Szlak. “It is a day to honour their memory and to ensure that the world never forgets the atrocities committed during that time.”

Yom HaShoah V’Hagvurah Commemoration, hosted by the Montreal Holocaust Museum

Holocaust survivors and their descendants invite Montrealers to participate in the Yom HaShoah commemoration to remember the history of the Holocaust and honour its legacy today. This year’s ceremony will focus on the remarkable and diverse stories of resistance during the Shoah. Despite facing persecution and genocide, Jewish people found extraordinary ways to maintain hope, preserve their humanity, continue religious practices, and attempt to prevent their killing.
