Dear Community Members,

As the anticipation of both the return to school and the upcoming High Holidays fills the air, Federation CJA wants to keep our community updated on an initiative that resonates deeply with the values we hold dear. In a world where recent global and local events have underscored the importance of unity and heightened awareness, Federation CJA is committed to ensuring that every member of our community can freely live their Jewish lives without fear. Whether it's sending our children to Jewish day school or gathering in synagogues on Shabbat and the holidays, these moments deserve to be steeped in comfort, acceptance, and, above all, safety.

This is where Federation CJA’s Community Security Network (CSN) steps in – a collective pledge to enhance the security and well-being of our community.

CSN: Safeguarding Our Community, Together

CSN stands upon three pillars, creating an environment of safety and support:

  1. Building Security, Building Confidence: Envision a world where learning, worship, and connection take centre stage, unburdened by safety worries. Our ongoing security project strengthens protection in our schools and synagogues, all for your peace of mind.
  2. Volunteers: Our Watchful Guardians: Picture a dedicated team – over 100 strong – protecting 38 Jewish institutions (and counting) in Cote Saint-Luc, Hampstead, Westmount, St. Laurent, and the West Island. These individuals are our community's eyes and ears and the backbone of the CSN. We're committed to extending this network to every school and synagogue, weaving a safety net around our places of learning and worship.
  3. Partnering with Law Enforcement: A Unified Front: Our Director of Security collaborates closely with law enforcement, ensuring timely alerts and informed action.

Our team actively engages with our schools, camps, and institutions, fostering awareness and a more secure environment. Your involvement is paramount as we work towards a more robust, safer community for all.

May the holidays bring blessings of health, happiness, and harmony to you and your loved ones. Together, let's continue to build a safer future for our community.
