Montreal – July 14, 2022 – Federation CJA is pleased that the Montreal Police Department has made an arrest following a violent incident that took place after the Israel Day Rally, last May. An act of violence was perpetrated downtown against a member of the Jewish community following a peaceful celebration of thousands of supporters of the State of Israel.

At that time, Yair Szlak, CEO of Federation CJA said, “We are appalled and outraged to witness an act of hatred and violence on the streets of Montreal, targeting a member of our Jewish community.”

Today, Federation CJA is praising the Montreal Police Department for their professionalism in conducting a thorough investigation that has resulted in an arrest.

“The person, or persons, responsible for this act of violence must be held to account,” Szlak said.

Szlak also thanked Mr. Dan Goldstein for “seeing something and saying something." Goldstein was the first bystander to call Police as well as Federation CJA.
