Sylvia Quint

Women's Campaign Chair, 2007-2008

Being chair of the Federation CJA Woman’s Campaign was a culmination of years of volunteering in the Montreal Jewish community. As I raised my children, I had the privilege of working in many different organizations. These included Federation CJA, the Montreal Woman’s Ort , Israel Bonds, and The JGH Auxiliary. I chaired the Concert Society of JPPS and Bialik, the Mazon food festival, and started the Monday bridge club as a fundraiser for the TBDJ Synagogue .

But, being chair of Woman’s Campaign was one of the most exciting and gratifying challenges I have ever undertaken.

What a gift, as a daughter of Russian Immigrants, who had the good fortune to settle in Canada in 1935 to see what I have seen: I stood on the tarmac at Ben Gurion Airport welcoming a planeload of Soviet Olim; visited Ethiopian Jews in Beer Sheva, and met my daughter on the March of the Living. How proud I was to stand in a room of 750 women at the annual Choices event. None of these things would happen without the incredible Federation team , many of whom remain close friends.

My legacy is my four daughters and their families, which includes 13 grandchildren who all attend the Jewish day schools, support Israel and love being Jewish.
