Women's Federation President, 1982-1984

My volunteer commitment at Maimonides Hospital Gift Shop was just coming to an end. I had started that enterprise and, after 10 years of managing and buying for the shop, I was ready for something new. Phyllis Waxman, a past President of Women's Federation, enticed me to follow her. Right from the outset, I was thrilled with the professionalism of the staff and the quality of the volunteers. The relationships and friendships I formed during my terms as Vice President and President are just as important to me today as they were then. The two projects that were started in my term, namely Career Women's Network and Outreach to the Québécois Francophone Community and the orthodox Jewish community, taught us so much. It was a marvelous learning experience in tolerance and what it means to embrace others...

Most of all, I would like to express my gratitude for all the fun and experiences I shared with my peers. Try volunteering, it is great!
