Job Summary

The Community Engagement Associate is responsible for the coordination and execution of assigned programs in order to attract and encourage involvement in diverse community initiatives aiming to create meaningful connections and engagement to Judaism, Israel, FCJA and the Montreal Jewish Community. Focus will be placed on mentoring and engaging students affiliated with the University of Montreal and CEGEP. A strong command of the French language is required to succeed in this position. The incumbent contributes directly to the increase of revenues for the annual campaign and the development of other financial resource initiatives.

Duties

• Establish, develop, and cultivate relationships with assigned groups to facilitate community engagement and reinforce annual fundraising efforts
• Implement strategies to attract, recruit and engage participants
• Act as the resource-person for assigned constituents
• Ensure a high level of customer service by responding in a timely manner to inquiries from multiple organizations, professionals and clients
• Identify and engage potential volunteers and leaders within their assigned group age
• Ensure that volunteers and program participants are properly pipelined to the appropriate GenMTL programs (ie: Israel experiences, CJA, PJL, LD)
• Initiate ideas for various outreach events and work closely with GenMTL’s operations on all matters relating to logistics, data collection, and event planning
• Collaborate with the Director of Community Engagement to implement and manage the integration of programs within the overall GenMTL structure
• Liaise and work closely with other departments of Federation CJA, affiliated agencies and other communal organizations.
• Develop, coordinate, and steward committees with volunteers and lay leaders
• Work with immediate supervisor and GenMTL Management Team to implement the annual Combined Jewish Appeal Campaign.

Education, Knowledge and Skills

• A University Degree in a relevant field.
• A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a fundraising or business development role, preferably in a not-for-profit or foundation environment
• Experience in program design, development and implementation
• Creative thinker and a self-starter who can work with minimum supervision or general guidance and instructions
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a donor-focused team with other professionals, lay leaders and volunteer committees
• Experience establishing, developing, and maintaining key relationships with multiple stakeholders
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills in both English and French
• Must possess strong leadership skills and have the ability to lead people and get results
• Strong knowledge of Montreal Jewish Community and commitment to Federation CJA values
• Strong work ethic, organizational skills and ability to work in a multitasking environment.
• Knowledge of the MS Office suite
