Job Summary

The Associate Director oversees a wide range of services and programs as they relate to the facilities, administration, operation, programming and human resources management of the YCC camp.

Duties

• Supports and seconds the Director of YCC in ensuring the highest degree of health and safety standards in relation to campers care, program delivery, food services, facility maintenance and health/medical service
• Assists the Director of YCC in the design and implementation of camp programs that support and contribute to the enhancement of Jewish life and learning in a pluralistic environment.
• Promote the YCC camp through a variety of marketing channels, tools and initiatives, including production of the digital yearbook and managing presence and activity on social networks
• Partner and liaise with schools and other community organizations to set-up information booths and generate interest in YCC camp
• Promote rental retreats through various channels and supervise assigned staff at the camp
• Meets, liaise and communicate with first time families of campers and manage follow-ups to meet varying needs.
• Responsible for the overall camp management during the summer, including campers, staff and programming
• Manages and coordinates various on and off site camp programs throughout the year (unit and camp reunions, supervisory shabbatons, week-end camps, supervisor and staff pre-camp)
• Participate actively to support the Director in managing related budget and maintaining revenue expectations
• Participates actively in the recruitment, hiring, training and the evaluation of staff as well as volunteer work
• Attend various camp management committees for the purpose of identifying current trends and implementing best practices.

Education, Knowledge and Skills

• University degree in Business, Recreation and Leisure Management or in a related field.
• 6 to 8 years of experience, of which 5 years as a supervisor in a summer camp environment
• Advanced computer knowledge (Facebook, photo-shop, Microsoft Word, Excel)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain key relationships
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, in both French and English
• Strong work ethics, including developed skills for organization, strategic thinking and ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment often under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Ability to work as a member of a team and independently
• Solution-oriented
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings and to reside at YCC during the summer.
