“The SPVM (Service de police de la Ville de Montréal) works collaboratively with Federation CJA’s security team. They inform us when events happen in Israel or other countries that may have an impact here at home, so we can react appropriately, educate our police officers about the issues, and increase the presence of officers in certain parts of town. We also train students, teachers, and administrators of Jewish day schools on how to be vigilant and safe with strangers, and how to conduct emergency evacuations.

We are proud of our partnership with Federation CJA, which helps ensure the education and protection of our citizens in an efficient and effective way.”

Federation CJA assumes a lead role in the security of the agencies, synagogues, Jewish day schools and other institutions that make up the Montreal Jewish community.

“It’s a privilege for me to volunteer for a program for kids and teens with disabilities. My buddy Brittany and I cook and do karate together, and we have really bonded.

The joy that rushes through me when I see the smile on her face is a feeling that everyone should have the chance to experience. We are all a part of this community, and I am happy there is a place for everyone.”

“Every Wednesday after school, I get to see Naomi and all of my other friends. We hug each other and everyone is always smiling. I feel safe, welcome, and happy!”

Thanks to your support, Federation CJA funds dozens of programs that enable 950+ individuals with disabilities to participate in Jewish communal life.

"After years of struggling with depression, I started using drugs and alcohol to calm my feelings of worthlessness. Drugs made me feel worse, and I knew deep down that I wasn't living the life I wanted. I tried to put on a happy face and lie to family and friends, but in reality, I had lost the battle with addiction.

Thanks to the support of my family, my community, and the right therapist, I was able to get my life back on track. Today, I'm proud to be 4 years sober from all substances.

I'm now considered a trustworthy, reliable and stable person, and I'm really proud to be a productive member of society again. By sharing my story, I hope to remove the stigma that's attached to addiction and mental illness."

Last year, 8,661 people in our community received help coping with challenges and critical situations arising from addiction, abuse and stressful unforeseen events.

“In my last year of university, I was uncertain about my future career plans. Being mentored allowed me to explore my ideas and made me feel supported at a transitional time in my life. Dany taught me so much and gave me the reassurance I needed. Mentors give young people the confidence to go out into the world as say ‘Yes, I can do this! Someone with experience believes in me.’ That changes lives.”

“I was approached to become a mentor and I have been bowled over by Mira’s intelligence, energy, and determination – all qualities that are so needed if one is to be an entrepreneur. This is a wonderful community project which supports young people, aids in the interaction and understanding between the generations, and encourages young people to stay in Montreal.”

Last year, thanks to your support, 2,235 young people participated in mentorships, leadership development programs, and networking opportunities, fostering excellence in future leaders.
