“It’s a privilege for me to volunteer for a program for kids and teens with disabilities. My buddy Brittany and I cook and do karate together, and we have really bonded.

The joy that rushes through me when I see the smile on her face is a feeling that everyone should have the chance to experience. We are all a part of this community, and I am happy there is a place for everyone.”

“Every Wednesday after school, I get to see Naomi and all of my other friends. We hug each other and everyone is always smiling. I feel safe, welcome, and happy!”

Thanks to your support, Federation CJA funds dozens of programs that enable 950+ individuals with disabilities to participate in Jewish communal life.

“In my last year of university, I was uncertain about my future career plans. Being mentored allowed me to explore my ideas and made me feel supported at a transitional time in my life. Dany taught me so much and gave me the reassurance I needed. Mentors give young people the confidence to go out into the world as say ‘Yes, I can do this! Someone with experience believes in me.’ That changes lives.”

“I was approached to become a mentor and I have been bowled over by Mira’s intelligence, energy, and determination – all qualities that are so needed if one is to be an entrepreneur. This is a wonderful community project which supports young people, aids in the interaction and understanding between the generations, and encourages young people to stay in Montreal.”

Last year, thanks to your support, 2,235 young people participated in mentorships, leadership development programs, and networking opportunities, fostering excellence in future leaders.

“Two years ago we embarked on the roller coaster ride of starting our own business. We sought support from the community to get it off the ground and they helped in so many ways – from surrounding us with strong mentors who guided us through the process and helped build our network, to providing funding for the business. We’ve been extremely fortunate to benefit from this support!

Montreal has given us so much and we want to give back to our beloved city, so it was important for us to start our business here. As we’ve grown, we’ve returned the favour by hiring employees directly from the community employment services and will continue to do so as our business grows.”

Since 2000, Federation CJA has enabled thousands of young, Jewish entrepreneurs to receive professional mentorship and helped build 55 businesses here in Montreal through ProMontreal Entrepreneurs.

“I want to build my life and career here in Montreal so I recently got involved with Federation CJA’s Young Adult Division and started going to different events and meeting new people. It's been a great connector.

As I've become more involved, so have my friends. My circle is widening and I love to invite other young people to the events I participate in, especially those who don’t have much family in Montreal. I had never realized how many different opportunities there are for people like me to get involved, be it through volunteering, networking, or coming together over food. There's a place for everyone."

Last year 7,259 young Montrealers participated in Federation CJA programs that provide opportunities for social, networking and leadership development, which help to foster a sense of belonging among vibrant and engaged Jewish youth.
