Montreal, QC – September 12, 2024 – Federation CJA Women's Philanthropy brought a piece of Israel to Montreal on September 5th during “Machane Nights.” The event, which was held at Le Windsor downtown, served as the official campaign launch for Women’s Philanthropy, a sisterhood of women over the age of 40 united by acts of kindness and generosity.
Nearly 500 guests attended, with each having committed a donation to CJA’s 2024 All In annual campaign.
"Machane Nights was born from a deep yearning to be in Israel after October 7th, to show our support and solidarity when many of us could not be there in person,” said Marnie Zigman Stern, President, Women’s Philanthropy. “The evening was a testament to that spirit—to our commitment, our unity, and our love for Israel."
The supper club event featured Mediterranean-style cuisine prepared by world-renowned Israeli Chef Yossi Elad of the famed Machneyuda restaurant. The evening also featured special guests DJs, who kept the party going all night long.
"On October 8th, the phrase ‘we will dance again’ took on a meaning unlike any other,” said Machane Nights co-chairs Elisa Dahan, Andrea Dalfen, Dina Lieberman, Elyssa Minzberg, Kathy Sachs and Kirsty Stern. “It became a declaration of resilience and unity. It became a promise that, no matter how much they try to break us, we will rise. We will live. We will celebrate life. We dance for those we have lost, for those still fighting, and for the future we are determined to build. We dance to show the world that we are unbreakable, and our spirit will never be extinguished."
“Federation CJA is best positioned to tackle our community’s greatest challenges: empower our students on campus, combat antisemitism, strengthen Jewish continuity and care for our vulnerable,” said Heather Adelson, Chair, General Campaign, 2024 Combined Jewish Appeal. “However, we can’t do it alone.
