Elliotte Friedman Takes Powerful Stand Against Antisemitism During the Network’s Business of Sports Betting
This week’s Business of Sports Betting event brought together industry experts for a panel discussion on the future of sports betting. Sports enthusiasts in attendance heard from Meghan Chayka, Dale Hooper, Scott Woodgate, and Jordan Gnat. However, it was moderator and hockey reporter Elliotte Friedman who stole the show, sharing the importance of living life to the fullest in spite of the antisemitism and hate directed our way.

Michal Cotler-Wunsch Encourages Students to Remember, Reclaim and Renew Their Jewish Pride
Israel’s Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism Michal Cotler-Wunsch returned home this week, visiting Hillel Montreal for an insightful and educational conversation surrounding the global efforts being taken to fight antisemitism and how best to confront the issue on college campuses. Michal shared the importance of speaking out against double standards and any condemnation of the state of Israel’s right to exist, calling it “an existential moment for Jews worldwide.” She also encouraged students to call out antisemitism and advocate for their school’s code of conduct be upheld for all students, no matter their affiliation.

Ahead of her visit to Hillel on Monday, Michal spoke with CJAD 800 about the importance of identifying all strains of antisemitism to battle ongoing hatred.

Frustration Mounts Over Lack of March For Jerusalem Coverage
The March for Jerusalem brought Montrealers from all backgrounds together in an act of solidarity and unity towards Israel and the Jewish community. Israeli President Isaac Herzog Warns of Hezbollah’s Significant Threat to Israel
In response to incessant fire from Hezbollah since October 8th, Israel has intensified targeting of the Lebanese terrorist organization over the past week. This includes targeted attacks on high-ranking terrorist officials and large-scale pre-emptive strikes on weapons depots in Southern Lebanon. Hezbollah, which openly calls for the destruction of Israel and incites violence against American and other western assets, is one of the most significant military threats to Israel. Supporting Your Children in Non-Jewish Day Schools | Tuesday October 8, 2024
Every child has a right to be safe and secure in their school. However, incidents of antisemitism occurring in non-Jewish day schools are often downplayed or excused and not dealt with. By law, every school must have a process to address antisemitic acts of bullying and harassment.
To address this, Federation CJA is organizing a webinar to inform parents of your rights and to provide you with valuable information, tools, and resources.

West Island Commemorative Havdalah | Saturday October 26, 2024
We invite the community to come together in the West Island for a commemorative memorial Havdalah service marking the first anniversary of the Simchat Torah massacre. As we remember this tragic event, we also reflect on the light, strength, and resilience that arise from our unity. Together with guests from our partnership in Israel, we will honor the memory of those lost, pray for the remaining hostages in captivity and find solace in the power of community. Doors will open at 7:30pm. The main event will begin at 8pm.
