Campaign Encourages Support of Indigo Bookstores
CIJA is launching a BUYcott Campaign in support of Indigo bookstores following a malicious movement from anti-Israel groups. Indigo CEO Heather Reisman and her husband, Gerry Schwartz, have been extraordinary philanthropists in support of the Jewish state and the Jewish people, notably through their creation of HESEG, a scholarship fund for lone soldiers enlisted in the IDF.
To counter this offensive, a coordinated national and international BUYcott Campaign is being rolled out for September 25th, focusing on in-store and online purchases. Participants are encouraged to share their purchases on social media using the hashtag #BuycottIndigo.
More information will be available on this campaign in the days to come. In the meantime, check out the latest episode of the Big Shot podcast where Heather shares how she went from being a single mother to building Canada’s largest bookseller.

Increased Calls for Canada’s Anti-Islamophobia Adviser to Step Down
Last week, CIJA renewed its call for the resignation of Amira Elghawaby, Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia, citing her prejudicial comments downplaying antisemitism, her demands for religion-based hiring policies in universities, and her anti-Quebec rhetoric. To address this, Federation CJA is organizing a webinar to inform parents of your rights and to provide you with valuable information, tools, and resources. If you can't join on this date, another session is being offered on October 8th!
