The AMJQ leadership invites medical professionals to an exclusive mission to Israel, a profound journey of solidarity, education, and resilience. Open to AMJQ members (permitted to invite a non-member to join them), this mission offers a unique opportunity to connect with the land and its people, understand their challenges, and support their triumphs. Highlights include hands-on volunteering, talks with Israeli Health Ministry speakers, visits to hospitals and peer physicians, witnessing Kibbutz Kfar Aza and Nova Festival, meeting survivors and relatives of 10/7 hostages, and earning CME accreditation with Tel Aviv University.

Supporting Rimon Farm: Turning Tragedy into Empowerment
Founded with the purpose of transforming tragedy into empowerment, Rimon Farm has become a powerful tool for healing. As part of the Lahav farms project in the South of Israel, Rimon Farm serves as a sanctuary of growth and learning for at-risk youth. Since October 7, the demand for mental health support in Israel has surged dramatically, and there are now more kids in need of this program. On Tuesday at Hillel House, about 70 students and friends came together for a Yom Ha'atzmaut post-rally BBQ. It was a wonderful event filled with smiles, hugs, and good vibes only. It was great to see them happy, celebrating, and resilient. Our community truly came together in strength and unity.

CIJA Calls for Action Against Antisemitism [article in French]
In a powerful op-ed, Eta Yudin, Vice-President of CIJA Quebec, highlights the urgent need to combat rising antisemitism. Following the October 7th events, Jewish communities worldwide, including in Canada, have faced increased hate crimes. Yudin criticizes the silence and inaction of leaders in the face of extremist threats and calls for a collective effort to confront and stop the spread of antisemitic hatred. She emphasizes that this fight is crucial not only for the Jewish community but for all Quebecers.

Judge Denies McGill's Injunction Request
A Quebec court has rejected McGill University's request for an injunction to dismantle the pro-Palestinian encampment on its campus. The judge suggested McGill refile the request with modifications within 10 days. The encampment, calling for the university to divest from companies linked to Israel, remains a point of contention. Protesters celebrated the decision, emphasizing their right to free speech and continued protest. McGill expressed disappointment and is analyzing the judgment.

Housefather and Prass Demand Action on Antisemitism
Mount Royal MP Anthony Housefather and D'Arcy McGee MNA Elisabeth Prass are calling for stronger measures against antisemitism following the October 7 Hamas attack. Speaking at a recent town hall, Housefather proposed amending the Criminal Code to protect Jewish institutions from protests that cross into hate speech. Prass criticized Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante for her lack of response and urged politicians to stand up against all forms of hate.

Oberman Testifies on Antisemitism at Commons Committee
Lawyer Neil Oberman, senior partner at Spiegel Sohmer, testified last week at the House of Commons Justice Committee about the rampant antisemitism in Canada, especially on university campuses. Oberman, known for securing injunctions to move anti-Israel protests away from Jewish institutions, highlighted the rise in antisemitism and its impact on the Jewish community. He emphasized the need for collective action to combat this growing threat to Canadian values.
