Thanks to the generosity of donors Leonard (z”l) and Alice Cohen, Beit Michael (named after the couple’s son) was inaugurated in Beer Sheva this week. The three new Beit Michael homes will host 18 teenagers and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, allowing them to live on their own and integrate into the wider community. This is the third project the family has donated to Beer Sheva, as part of the Beit Cohen Centres. A Federation CJA initiative, the project was also made possible by significant leverage of government funding, and built on municipal land. The ceremony brought together all the partners, the Mayor of Beer Sheva, and Paul and Shelley Cohen on behalf of the Cohen family.

Federation CJA 360 is a news aggregate, offering readers a variety of articles and opinion pieces on topics of concern to the Jewish community and presented in a concise, convenient platform. The opinions expressed by contributors shared in Federation CJA 360 do not necessarily reflect the policies or the positions of Federation CJA, its staff or its Board of Directors.

About Federation CJA
For over one hundred years, Federation CJA has been at the heart of the organized Jewish community in Montreal. In partnership with a vast network of agencies and organizations locally, nationally and internationally, Federation CJA builds and sustains this community by providing leadership and by supporting the delivery of services and programs to care for the vulnerable and those in need, to ensure a bright Jewish future, to represent communal interests and to positively affect issues in the wider society.

As per the recommendation of Canadian health experts, Federation CJA is advocating and practicing social distancing. Emerging research shows people can be contagious without showing symptoms, making it difficult to know who is spreading the disease. In order to \"flatten the curve\" on the pandemic and keep our community safe, we are postponing or cancelling all upcoming events until further notice. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
