Baron de Hirsch - Back River Cemeteries are commemorating the commitment of the Lahaie Family, who have maintained and cared for the cemetery grounds for almost a century. The family will be memorialized as part of the newly named Lahaie Family Section in a special ceremony on September 9th. Empowering Jewish Students: Introducing the Campus Initiative Micro-Grants
Federation CJA is thrilled to launch the new Campus Initiative Micro-Grants, designed to support Jewish CEGEP and university students. These grants aim to foster Jewish pride, connection to the community, and a strong bond with Israel on campus. Whether you're planning an initiative to advocate for Jewish life or strengthen ties with Israel, we’re here to help bring your ideas to life.
Open to Jewish student groups and campus professionals across Quebec, grants of up to $5,000 for student-led initiatives and up to $25,000 for professionally supported projects are available. The application deadline is Sunday, September 15, 2024, for programs running from October 2024 to May 2025.

We are honoured to host Michal Cotler-Wunsh on September 23rd for an enlightening and impactful discussion on the critical issue of antisemitism. This event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from Ms. Cotler-Wunsh about her dedicated efforts in fighting antisemitism on a global scale. She will address the recent rise in antisemitism, particularly on college campuses, and share strategies for combating this pervasive issue. Q & A session to follow. Kosher food will be provided.

It's Time to Fire Fred Hahn
Since Hamas’ barbaric October 7 terror attacks against Israel, which claimed more than a thousand lives – eight of them Canadian – the situation within CUPE has deteriorated rapidly – largely due to the so-called leadership of Fred Hahn.
What began as a troubling trend in 2010 when Hahn was first elected President, has now escalated into a full-blown crisis that must be dealt with – immediately.
Under his watch, the union has become a breeding ground for radicalization and extremism, affecting both workplaces and campuses. It's why we’re collectively saying enough is enough.

IDF rescues Israeli-Bedouin hostage After 326 Days in Hamas captivity
The IDF and the Shin Bet rescued Qaid Farhan Alkadi from a tunnel in Rafah on Tuesday. Alkadi, an Israeli-Bedouin from Rahat and father of 11 children, had been held by Hamas since being abducted from Mivtachim on October 7th.
