Open for dinner every Tuesday and Thursday, Le Café provides hot, kosher meals twice weekly in a warm, respectful environment. Le Café has served over 194,000 meals to date—With 6 % of recipients being children.
Federation CJA, in collaboration with Ometz, the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors, and Communauté sépharade unifiée du Québec, established Le Café in 2009 to address the needs of people most affected by the global economic crisis. From the outset, it was clear that the initiative was necessary to fulfill growing needs in the community— Every week, more than 450 people in need benefit from the services at Le Café. Le Café is open and welcoming to all in need of help in the Montreal community. People from all backgrounds and walks of life have benefitted from Le Café; from seniors to families with children, to members of our community with intellectual difficulties.
More than 15,067 volunteers have been the backbone that supports the entire structure of Le Café, assisting with food preparation, service to clients, and clean up. Their dedication has made it possible to keep Le Café open and running cost-effectively.
Whether it’s serving meals, pouring drinks, or busing tables – we have a job for everybody. Roll up your sleeves and help nourish our community! To volunteer at Le Café, contact Elsa Beker at 514-345-2645 ext 6221
