A "professional" is understood by most people as being someone who excels in their field. This is not actually the case, as "Professionals" are defined by law as those who are members of a professional order, which in turn implies that they have a professional code of conduct. There are over 40 legally recognised professional groups in Quebec. This series of five presentations, hosted by the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue, will feature five groups of professionals who will divide their talks into three parts: (a) key elements of their unique code of conduct; (b) what it means to THEM to be a professional; (c) how halakha and Jewish ethics affect their profession. The series is aimed at all ages but should be particularly relevant to teenagers in Grades 10 & 11 (Secs 4 & 5) who are considering their career choices, as well as students in professional programs in CEGEPS and universities.
