On Wednesday, January 23rd, at 10:00am, Dr. Gerald Batist, Director of the Segal Cancer Center at Jewish General Hospital, along with several notable speakers, will address invitees before unveiling a commemorative plaque. The historic plaque commemorates the opening of the newly expanded Breast Referral and Investigation Centre at Jewish General Hospital. Funds from The Weekend enable Jewish General Hospital to see 30 percent more patients through the centre annually. Batist, researchers, and a 7-year-Walker and cancer survivor will be available for interviews immediately following the unveiling. One in seven Canadian women will be diagnosed with a breast or gynaecological cancer in their lifetime, and in Canada over 8,000 women will die this year from the disease. Funds raised by The Weekend support life-saving research, treatment, care and prevention programs involving breast, gynaecologic, cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancers at the Segal Cancer Center in Montreal. National Wear it Pink Day is an initiative to help drive registrations for the 2013 Weekend. Canadians in all provinces will wear pink in support of the 2013 Weekend. To register, make a donation or learn more about the 9th annual Weekend, call (514) 393-9255 or visit
