Description:

Join us as Mary Soderstrom reads and discusses her book Frenemy Nations. Wondering why the US and Canada are so different? In Mary Soderstrom’s book Frenemy Nations: Love and Hate between Neighbo(u)ring States she looks at ten pairs of political entities that are alike, but not alike – including Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Scotland and Ireland, Vermont and New Hampshire, and, the big one, the US and Canada. Among the many things that differentiate these two last nonidentical twins is having a vigorous public broadcaster, an immigration policy based on merit, and 20 per cent of the population with a language other than English as a mother-tongue.
