The JCYMUN conference was created to encourage Jewish youth to participate in the Model UN experience and to prepare them to become engaged, future global leaders. A Model UN brings together students to simulate the activities of various United Nations Committees. The delegates (students) are each assigned a country to represent at the conference, during which time students debate the issues brought forward, negotiate and represent their country's views and make informed decisions under pressure. In addition to gaining an understanding of international relations and global issues, students have the opportunity to develop debating, public speaking and analytical thinking skills, all while connecting with similarly committed peers. Through JCYMUN, we hope to enable Jewish and non Jewish students alike from across North America and the world to understand the inner-workings of the United Nations, to provide them with the tools to crystallize their own political beliefs and to inspire them to become active participants in global politics. If you are interested in sending a delegation of students from grades 9-12, please let us know. For more information, you can refer to our new and updated website, www.jcymun.org.
