All women are invited to an intimate evening with Nina Tokayer at ADATH on Thursday night, April 19 at 7 p.m. Enjoy music and conversation with Nina to learn about her life, her music, her family, and her spirituality. This event is presented by ADATH with Federation CJA’s Israel Engagement Initiative. Partners include TEAM Sisterhood. "Our names are Yoni and Nina Tokayer (hence our band name, Yonina). We are a married couple with a little sweetheart named Ashira Tzion who joined the ensemble a year and a half ago. We currently live in the quiet, rural city of Pardes Chana in central Israel." "We’ve both been writing lyrics and composing music since childhood. About a year and a half ago, we decided it was time to make our dream a reality. We started out small, by uploading a weekly video to Facebook and YouTube (visit our FB page and channel if you haven’t already!) because we liked the idea of making people feel good with our music, and because we wanted to share it with the public. At first our only fans were friends and family, and gradually, our circle of support extended to thousands of people we’d never met from places we’d never even been! To our growing astonishment, our videos began receiving a huge amount of exposure, the record being our most popular “One Day” video with over 40 million views from all over the world!" "We believe that music has the unique power of mending wounds and spreading out across barriers. We are continuously amazed and honored when we meet people from all walks of life in our audience. That is why we decided to call our album debut album "Emet Pshuta" (Simple Truth). What we want to convey most through our music is a simple, clear voice – from one heart to another." Tickets are $10. Purchase tickets here, or call Audra Libman in our office, 514-482-4252, or at the door.
