January 13th, 2021
2020 was a year unlike any other. As we begin a new year filled with hope for the future, we know that many are still struggling with depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues caused by the COVID-19 crisis. The cold winter months and the social isolation we are all experiencing is not only affecting our most vulnerable but everyone in our community. We have all felt the weight of the past year and, while everyone copes differently, no one needs to suffer alone.
Federation CJA has taken a proactive and collaborative network approach, working with our partners and service providers in the field, to address the immediate and critical mental health needs arising in the community due to social isolation. Thanks to your support, we were able to commit over $400,000 from our Covid Relief Fund to 28 agencies and community organizations to meet the mental health needs of our community members and engage individuals and families to discover and implement ways to support their emotional wellbeing during this trying time.
Without the constant help and support of our community's dedicated social service professionals, none of this could be possible. They have gone above and beyond in every way to help our community members reduce depression, anxiety, and loneliness due to prolonged isolation and reduced social connections.
And remember – it's OK not to be OK. Reaching out is one of the best ways to ease anxiety, depression, and loneliness during social isolation. Support is just a phone call away—call the community helpline at 514.734.1411 to connect with someone who will listen confidentially and help direct you to the appropriate resources to receive the emotional support you need.
Let's take comfort in the longer days ahead that will bring light, positivity, and togetherness. A new year is ahead of us, and with it we see renewed hope. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and we will all get there together.
