This year, we asked our community to do a little more to Secure our Future. We asked you to not only make a gift to the annual Combined Jewish Appeal Campaign that supports thousands of Jews here in Montreal and around the world, we asked you to consider an additional gift to the newly formed Community Security Network ("CSN") fund.

Thanks to the unfailing generosity of over 10,000 donors and the tireless dedication of over 500 volunteer canvassers, CJA19 was able to raise a projected total of $44.7 million in donations – including over $5 million for security.

In addition to continuing to support our community's most vulnerable through the Combined Jewish Appeal, I was humbled to see our donors come together to confront rising antisemitism and to secure our Jewish schools, synagogues and institutions by supporting the CSN fund. The CSN is a collaborative, community-wide effort led by Federation CJA, in partnership with experts in the field, to increase security preparedness and confidence. I am extremely proud that during this campaign season we were able to raise enough funds to begin implementing crucial infrastructure upgrades and security protocols – helping protect 5,400 children in Jewish day schools, 12,000 synagogue-goers, and tens of thousands of seniors, families, students, and community members that benefit from the programs and services offered by our community's institutions.

Our goal for the CSN fund is to secure $10 million, meaning that we are now halfway to where we need to be. In order to reach our goal, we will continue to reach out in the coming months about the importance of making a meaningful gift to the security fund.

The 102nd Campaign officially closes at the end of this month. Funds raised will be allocated to care for the vulnerable, strengthen Jewish life and advance communal interests.

Yasher koach to our General Campaign Chair, Marc Kakon, who led with such intelligence and compassion, driven by the values of chesed and tikun olam.

We are looking forward to working with the 2020 Campaign team, which will be led by incoming General Campaign Chair Mitch Garber: Samantha Mintz Vineberg, Chair-Elect, Women's Philanthropy Campaign; Guila Delouya, Chair-Elect, Sepharade Philanthropy Campaign; Gail Knafo, Chair-Elect, West Island Campaign; Martin Rosenthal, Chair-Elect for The Network Campaign; Erik Langburt, Chair-Elect, GenMTL Campaign; and Mikhael Goldstein – who is Chair-Elect for the first-ever Russian Philanthropy Campaign.

For over 100 years now, Federation CJA has had the privilege of being at the centre of Montreal's thriving Jewish community: caring, strengthening, connecting, advancing and supporting. Looking ahead, no other organization has the depth and breadth to secure a strong, vibrant and safe tomorrow for all of us — today.

We are only able to do the crucial work we do because of the generosity, commitment and passion of our donors.

On behalf of our 12 affiliated agencies, our 26 local community organizations, our national and international partners, our synagogues and our schools and the tens of thousands of people who are supported by our programs and services each week in Montreal, Israel and over 70 countries worldwide…Thank you, merci, toda!

No other gift has the power to impact as many Jewish lives as a gift to Combined Jewish Appeal. Thank you for making it matter.
