We’ll be 20 participants on the Ethiopian Short-term Service Program – 18 year old members of the Montreal Jewish community and the Beer Sheva/Bnei Shimon partnership communities.
It’s an innovative program aimed to develop our sense of Jewish peoplehood and encourage us to be involved in tikun olam; to help those who are in need as it relates to practical methods, no matter in what capacity.
During the mission, we’ll complete hands-on service projects that address humanitarian challenges through a variety of initiatives. The service work will focus on meeting the health, development and educational challenges of children and youth in Ethiopia.
Each day includes volunteer activities as well as time dedicated to learning about Ethiopia’s history, development needs and programs that address humanitarian issues in Ethiopia and around the world.
Throughout the program, we’ll engage in cultural exchanges with professionals and peers, take time to reflect on their experiences and Jewish values that form the basis of service work.

Hi Elya, We are very proud of you, the canadian and the israeli crew. Collectively, you are doing something great, something very “jewish”: Tikun Olam, one by one, with your heart, your soul and your Emounah. Never give up, continue what you started and do it well. You love you.
