Keeping the growing needs of the community in mind, the West Island Tikun Olam Volunteers (TOV) held a pilot project to cook and deliver Shabbat meals to seven families in need in the West Island. (more)

They owned a comfortable house in Dollard des Ormeaux and, though the mortgage consumed a considerable amount of their monthly budget, she had no reason to worry about whether the payments would be met.   • The YM-YWHA West Island Jewish Community Centre (WIJCC) is reaching out in an effort to connect with young families – whether at its Pierrefonds location or out-and-about in the West Island – wherever they can be found. The inspiration for its public space program was to make the connection with the unaffiliated and those who have drifted from their Jewish identity. The idea is to invite them to become reacquainted with their roots in settings that speak more to their daily lives than to institutional Judaism. (more)
  • Michael’s family was living comfortably, if at the limits of the joint income his parents earned. Outwardly, they appeared to be doing well, with a nice home in the West Island, a car, and an annual trip south during the winter. (more)
