On Sunday, May 28, FEDERATION CJA and its family of agencies celebrated the grand opening of its West Island branch. Under sunny skies, hundreds of visitors attended the all-day event, which featured an exciting line-up of activities including an art exhibition, dance show, storytelling and several live performances from local bands.

The community party drew a mixed crowd of families, young adults and seniors, as well as a number of politicians including Lawrence S. Bergman, Quebec Minister of Revenue, MNA (D’Arcy McGee); Pierre Marsan, MNA (Robert-Baldwin); Dr. Bernard Patry, MNA (Pierrefonds-Dollard); and Dollard-des-Ormeaux City Councilors Alex Bottausci, Herbert Brownstein, Morris Vesely and Howard Zingboim.

 “The official opening of this facility signifies the depth of FEDERATION CJA’s commitment to serving the Jewish population of the West Island. It is one of the priorities of my mandate as President to ensure that the programs needed to cultivate a strong Jewish identity and to promote Jewish involvement are available, through our facilities in Dollard-des-Ormeaux,” said Richard Vineberg, FEDERATION CJA’s current president.
