Reporting to Director, Community Planning and Allocations
Job Summary Reporting to the Director of the Community Planning and Allocations, the Senior Planning Associate is responsible to assess all aspects of dossiers that are assigned and formulate innovative recommendations to organizations based on system wide strategies. The incumbent further evaluates financial impact of community investments as well as analyses allocations, budgets and financial statements of the constituent agencies of Federation CJA.
Duties • Liaise with Federation CJA’s constituent agencies, as assigned, for community planning and funding • Work closely with volunteer leadership on monitoring, evaluating and planning for programs and strategies in constituent agencies • Evaluate and assess agency program and budget requests • Keep abreast of research and trends in the areas of Jewish identity and culture • Provide financial perspective on key strategic issues / projects as required • Analyze financial statements and budget submissions and investigate anomalies • Apprise relevant committee of emerging issues and financial concerns • Assist in creation of overall budget • Participate in strategic planning processes related to financial health of FCJA and constituent agencies • Foster collaborative planning relationship between lay and professional leadership in agencies and planning department • Consult and network with relevant organizations in the Jewish community • Link agency funding needs to campaign strategies • Take on other planning dossiers as needed
Education, Knowledge and Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Commerce or related degree • 5 years professional work experience in related field • Experience working with budgets, financial statements and strategic planning • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize • Bilingual (French and English) • Team player with the ability to work independently •Knowledge of the local Jewish community and understanding of Federation CJA is an asset
