Job Summary

The Senior Planning Associate (SPA) ensures that proper fiscal and strategic responsibility is taken in matters of funds and resources allocations by assessing, innovating, initiating improvements to agency based and system wide services, evaluating agency budgetary requests, formulating recommendations and conceptualizing as well as implementing system-wide planning initiatives on assigned dossiers.

Duties

Oversee planning and allocations for assigned sector, working directly with assigned agencies; Promote and establish forums for interagency collaboration; Maintain current on issues related to social services in the larger community; Serve as liaison between agencies based committees and planning department; Link agency funding needs to campaign strategies; Analyze, monitor, problem solve with agency directors and report on Agency budgets; Collaborate with planning colleagues to develop strategies addressing agency and system-wide issues; Foster collaborative planning relationship between lay and professional leadership in agencies and planning department; Facilitate the recruitment and training of Planning and Allocation Committee members; Link lay planning and allocation members to relevant agencies, as needed; Apprise relevant committee of community priorities, agency issues and financial concerns; Staff assigned committees and facilitate the annual planning and allocation process; Consult and network with relevant organizations in the Jewish community; Works with committee chairs and committee members as well as other lay committee members; Please note this list is not exhaustive and duties and responsibilities may be assigned or changed as the needed arises.

Education, Knowledge and Skills

• A University degree in social sciences, business, public administration, Law or a related discipline
• 3 years relevant professional experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills
• Strong strategic planning skills
• Strong administrative, analytical and budgeting skills
• Strong leadership skills, ability to lead people and get results through others
• Commitment to Federation CJA values
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Montreal Jewish Community
• Computer Skills: MS Office suite and software applications
