Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Planning and Allocation, the Associate evaluates financial impact and implications of community strategic priorities and planning directions. The associate further reviews, analyzes and monitors allocations, budgets and financial statements of the constituent agencies of FEDERATION CJA and other as needed. The incumbent ensures relevant information gathering, coordination, assessment and implementation of assigned planning dossiers.

Duties

The Associate acts as an active participant in the strategic planning process in all matters related to financial health of FEDERATION CJA and constituent agencies. The associate will analyze and assess financial impact of planning and budget recommendations as well as analyze agency financial statements and budget submissions and investigate material anomalies, whenever necessary. The associate will review agency semi-annual actual results and compare to budget as well as analyze year-end projections and report anomalies and will apprise relevant committees of emerging issues and financial concerns. The incumbent will provide financial perspective to scenario planning on key strategic issues/ projects as required and will assist the Director, Planning and Allocation and the Director of Finance in the creation of the overall budget. Other financial responsibilities will include the reviewing and reporting on financial statements of organizations requesting grants, the analysis and calculations for TAA, monitoring of loans and disbursement of funds. The incumbent will perform reviews of departments, projects, programs and services, as required, review potential sources of revenues, recommend usage for annual budget allocation process and support planning staff and other departments, as required, with financial tools in broader mandates. The associate will also be asked to Staff CPAC Financial Analysis Committee and support CPAC Allocations Committee. The incumbent promotes and establishes forums for interagency collaboration, fosters collaborative planning relationship between lay and professional leadership in agencies and planning department, consults and networks with relevant organizations in Jewish community and links agency funding needs to campaign strategies. Education, Knowledge and Skills

The ideal candidate holds a University degree in Commerce, Finance or a related field as well as a minimum of 3 to 5 years professional work experience in a similar position, preferably within a not-for-profit organization or in a fundraising institution. The incumbent is known for their exceptional analytical, organizational and planning skills as well as their ability to think strategically. The person possesses strong interpersonal skills and has the ability to work effectively with a variety of lay and professional stakeholders. The candidate must have strong written and presentation skills in both official languages and possesses a mastery of the Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of the local Jewish community and understanding of Federation and its role with partner agencies is an asset.
