Communauté sépharade unifiée du Québec (CSUQ) 1 Cummings Square Tel.: 733-4998 La Communauté Sépharade Unifiée du Québec ensures the advancement and the preservation of the Sephardic community while maintaining a spirit of unity and a sense of belonging to the Jewish community as a whole. The CSUQ plays a leading role in providing services to the Jewish population in general and to the Sephardic population in particular. These services are recreational (camps, trips, sports activities), culturel (Quinzaine Sépharade), social (holiday baskets), educational (support for the network of Sephardic schools), artistic (promotion of Sephardic artists), and religious (maintenance of a Hevra Kadisha and organization of religious activities). Striving to take its place and to participate actively in civic life, the CSUQ has established relations with our country’s community and public institutions and distributes La Voix Sépharade, a high-quality community magazine, to 5,000 Sephardic households. The CSUQ also oversees the consolidation of the Sephardic community’s ties to local Jewish and public agencies. The goal is to provide adequate services in a variety of domains (Social Affairs, Health, and Education) that respect the Sephardic population’s distinct cultural characteristics. Moreover, the CSUQ sees itself as a forum for the convergence of different cultures and intercommunity communication. |
