2010 – FIX
Founded in 2009, FIX is a committee of volunteers, supported by professionals from Federation and CSUQ working with Ometz to establish a dedicated resource to assist individuals from our community dealing with different kinds of addictions. As the special project for the 2010 Young Leadership Campaign, nearly $120,000 has been raised and an Ometz pilot project will soon follow. For more information please click here.

2009 – Ometz Family Play Therapy Room
With the help of nearly 100 solicitors, the Young Leadership Campaign of the Combined Jewish Appeal raised nearly $1.2 million in 2009. It also raised over $50,000 for a special project to rebuild therapy rooms for the Family Play Therapy Program housed by Agence Ometz. The program was created 10 years ago and uses play, drama and art as methods of therapy to support children and their families who are undergoing severe stressors such as divorce, serious family illness, death, special needs and learning disabilities. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2011. We look forward to providing photos upon completion.

2008 – Be’er Sheva Playground
For the 2008 Combined Jewish Appeal, the Young Leadership Campaign (YLC) adopted a very special project: to build a brand new playground for the children of Be’er Sheva, Montreal’s partnership city in the Negev.

In this largely working class city, many children do not have safe and well-equipped places to play. Responding to this need, the YLC succeeded in raising more than $100,000, enough for not one, but two playgrounds, transforming a field of debris into a field of dreams. Thanks to the generosity of those who contributed, the grateful children of Be’er Sheva are enjoying this wonderful new outdoor space.
