The 2012 Campaign raises over $39M At the helm of the CJA12 Campaign team is Evan Feldman, General Campaign Chair, who announced the projected figures for this year’s campaign: $36,702,602 for the regular Combined Jewish appeal, plus an additional $660,190 in one-time free gifts and $1,989,267 in one-time designated gifts—for a grand total of $39,352,059 for projects locally and in The 2012 Campaign enlisted over 1,700 new donors, representing over $500,000. “With the potential to exponentially impact annual campaigns in the future, the effort this year on soliciting these new contributions is to be commended,” said Feldman. He added, “It has been a true privilege to work alongside such tireless volunteers and professionals. Our community has so much to be proud of. In just three short months, we band together to raise the funds that are so vitally needed to sustain and strengthen our incredible community.” The Campaign 2012 team also included Heather Adelson, Chair, Women’s Philanthropy Campaign; Karen Soussan, Chair, Campagne Sépharade; Lloyd Feldman, Chair, YAD Campaign; and Jacob Greenbaum, Chair, FedNext YAD Campaign. The Chairs are supported by a team of over 800 canvassers, each responsible for contacting members of the community in an appeal that has been an annual tradition in the Montreal Jewish community for close to 100 years. Although the total number of donors has decreased over the last decade, Montreal ranks number two in highest per capita giving amongst North American Federations—a true testament to the powerful generosity of this community. This year also marks the launch of the Generations Fund, a major initiative of Federation CJA to secure the future of the Montreal Jewish community with an ambitious goal of raising a $100 million endowment. At this time, $64 million has already been pledged, with plans to increase the breadth of the Fund in 2013. David Cape, President of Federation CJA, stated, “We are well positioned to meet the needs of our community today and into the future through the bold vision and generosity of our donors. It is our collective responsibility—each and all of us—to ensure that we thrive today, tomorrow and for generations to come. One gift can make a world of difference; that is the power of collective giving. And as the central address for Jewish philanthropy in Montreal, Federation CJA, with its family of Agencies, is uniquely poised to affect countless lives—here and throughout the Jewish world. In the words of Elie Wiesel, ‘it is an honour to serve our people.’”
