FEDERATION CJA is committed to advancing the interests of the Jewish family in
Montreal, across Canada, in Israel and around the world. It allocates funding, as
permitted by law, to the promotion of the state of Israel and to combating antisemitism.
It speaks with a strong voice on matters of social justice, and on behalf
of the under-privileged and vulnerable to ensure that their concerns, too, are
heard. Through its Social Advocacy Committee, FEDERATION CJA advocates on
issues relating to poverty, health and social services, and housing.
In 2004, the Canadian Council for Israel and Jewish Advocacy (CIJA) was established
by United Israel Appeal Federations Canada (of which FEDERATION CJA is
a member) as an umbrella organization for Jewish community advocacy efforts, to
help improve the quality of Jewish life in Canada, to increase support for Israel,
and to strengthen the Canada-Israel relationship. CIJA brings together such organizations
as the Canadian Jewish Congress, the Canada-Israel Committee, Quebec-
Israel Committee, the National Committee for Jewish Campus Life and others.
Social Advocacy relating to poverty, health and social services, and housing
is localized under the Social Advocacy Committee of FEDERATION CJA.
