Svetla Protitch

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Svetla Protitch graduated with a Master of Arts in Textile Design from The National Academy of Fine Arts in her hometown. She immigrated to Canada in 1999 and has been responsible for the graphic image of Federation CJA ever since.

Svetla has been responsible for the creation and production of over 3,000 creative projects that have defined the brand of Federation. From Combined Jewish Appeal Campaigns, to annual reports, to initiatives like the inauguration of Cummings House, Tikun Olam and Gen J and the celebration of Federation’s 90th anniversary, she has done it all with great success.

She was in charge of the creative work for the new Federation website, as well as the new Federation logo and corporate identity program, and, while leading these large projects, she also took care of hundreds of smaller ones including invitations, brochures, ads, posters, bus shelters and billboards, displaying unparalleled multi-tasking skills and endless creativity.

On numerous occasions, Svetla has provided consultation services and she is often called upon by other agencies to assist them in developing their graphic image or when they are in need of high-quality materials. Most recently she was the designer of the new logo for the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors.

Svetla is also an accomplished painter who has contributed her works to Federation for several charitable art auctions. Her talent has been recognized this year by the publishers of Pierre Anctil's new book about Jews in Quebec, which uses one of her designs for its cover.

But creativity, commitment and design abilities are not Svetla’s only qualities. Her positive attitude, pleasant demeanor and humility make her a joy to work with. She is respected by peers and leadership alike and she is a natural team player and leader.

Reliable, engaged and results-oriented, Svetla is an inspiration to all those who work closely with her, as well as to every person in the Jewish community who has any contact with Federation.

Svetla is married to award-winning animation filmmaker Theodore Ushev and they have a daughter, Alexandra.
